It seems only yesterday when we marked the groundbreaking of The Quayside, the joint venture mixed-use commercial development project between Link and Nan Fung Group, three years ago. Thanks to the great efforts by the project team to keep it on schedule and within budget, the project’s twin towers have just been topped out and look set for an early 2019 launch, much sooner than originally planned.

Given Link’s expertise in asset enhancement of mass-market retail centres, this grade-A office development at the heart of the new Kowloon East CBD appears to sound a different tone about our business direction. It is, in fact, a deliberate move on our part to diversify from a retail-oriented portfolio by investing in the office sector.

This foray into property development offers us leeway to instil creativity and meet the aspirations of our tenants. The Quayside has incorporated multiple features to promote physical wellness and environmental friendliness, factors that multinationals and major corporations highly value in their choice of business location. We are delighted that the project has already secured J.P. Morgan as a key tenant, in addition to having attained prominent green building certifications.

This first commercial development project of ours will become an integral part of our long-term investment portfolio, and a showcase of our ability to bring innovation and sustainability to life.
