Speaking at a HKGCC seminar, CEO George Hongchoy related that embracing changes is the key to the success in transforming the shopping experience and driving the retail industry to new heights.

George said that with improvements in transport infrastructure quickly breaking down the distance barrier, Link had taken adaptive measures to appeal to a broader shopper base. For example, Link has merged adjacent shopping malls to create H.A.N.D.S in Tuen Mun and Temple Mall in Wong Tai Sin, each featuring distinctive image, revamped layout and new trade mix. At its recently refurbished TKO Gateway, Link has also introduced a wide array of popular specialty restaurants and new facilities.

At the launch event of the RICS Hong Kong diversity and inclusion agenda, George shared Link’s experience in promoting these aspects. “An inclusive culture starts with keeping an open mind and understanding each other’s viewpoints,” he said. George noted that Link’s board comprises professionals from diverse backgrounds, and is the top performer in terms of female board representation among all Hang Seng Index companies.

“We promote an inclusive society in myriad ways, including by enhancing barrier‑free facilities and supporting guide dog services,” said George. “At Stanley Plaza, our dog‑friendly property, we have, on the advice of animal welfare group, implemented measures to provide an inclusive environment for dog owners and their canine friends, while addressing the needs of non‑dog owners. This lesson showed us the need to address diversity and inclusion issues from new perspectives.”

Food Angel, the Link‑sponsored resource management project organised by Bo Charity Foundation, collects packaged food from 15 Link shopping malls and turns surplus fresh food recycled from 13 Link fresh markets into nutritious hot meals for distribution to the underprivileged. The programme’s mascot, Ricey, has also visited Link’s shopping malls to spread Food Angel’s message about reducing food waste.

Thanks to Link Together Initiatives, the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association (HKGDA) has made big strides in promoting the training and local breeding of guide dogs as well as related public education activities. Marking a major milestone, the Association welcomed the arrival of seven locally born guide dog puppies early this year, which were given the names Popeye, Popcorn, Pasta, Pancake, Pepper, Pudding and Pizza - all selected by the public through Link’s Park & Dine app.

Among the eight original puppies purchased from overseas with Link’s sponsorship, Dax and Delta have been matched up with guide dog users after completing their training. Dax’s user, Tim Henderson, said Dax has become his loyal partner and has enriched his life.

To deepen public understanding of guide dogs and the services they provide, this year’s programme also includes the production of two short educational films and a series of seminars that enable the visually impaired to share their experiences, and enable members of the public to interact with guide dogs.

Link’s Board Members William Chan and Nancy Tse met with guide dog users, foster families and HKGDA representatives to learn about the progress made to extend guide dog service in Hong Kong.

First Generation University Student
Scholarship Programme
Expands Support to Promising Young Scholars

To further support promising young scholars in fulfilling their aspirations, Link has stepped up its First Generation University Student Scholarship Programme by offering 40 additional scholarships to past recipients to support their second and third years of study, on top of the 100 scholarships offered to year‑one students. This will help broaden the awardees’ academic horizons and help them grow their exposure during their university years. Link’s expanded programme will also assist in setting up Link Scholar Alumni for past scholarship recipients and will give them priority when hiring summer interns.
