Empowering Youngsters through Music

Organised by Music Children Foundation with support from Link Together Initiatives, the “Music for Everyone @ Link” project provides scholarships for training in music theory and musical instruments for talented youngsters with passion in music. Link also partners with the Foundation to organise musical instrument recycling programmes and community concerts to promote music appreciation in the community, especially among the younger generation.

Benefiting from Link’s music scholarship, Clayton Leung, who comes from a grass-root family, is now able to continue his saxophone lessons and participate in orchestra performances, which greatly boosts his musical skills and self-confidence.

No longer an exclusive art form enjoyed by the older generation, Cantonese opera has become an alternative “pop music” which the younger generation are learning these days. The “Cha Duk Chang 3 in 1” project, sponsored by the Link Together Initiatives and organised by the Cha Duk Chang Children’s Cantonese Opera Association, organises opera singing workshops and competitions for children and their families, including those from ethnic minority groups. The project seeks to enhance intergenerational relationships, promote social inclusion and carry on the heritage of Cantonese opera.
